Job Purpose
|
As a Director of Finance Department we are expected to provide strategic and operational direction
in developing the Finance Department’s policies and procedures, as well as
monitor and control financial aspects of the University of Sharjah by providing
recommendations on financials to ensure that assets and financial resources are
managed and that the University is financially stable.

Main accountabilities & expectations
|
- Establish or recommend financial policies, objectives and procedures and supervises their development and implementation.
- Implement and maintains practical and effective budgetary, accounting,
cash and working capital management, cost, capital expenditure evaluation and
other operating controls to safeguard the University's assets and resources
- Ensure the timeliness and accuracy of relevant financial statements, accounts,
reports and analysis to support the daily business decision-making process
- Authorize payments, deposits and transfers within defined authority
limits ensuring that the authority matrix is followed
- Review management accounts and ensures that they represent the actual
financial position of the University and that they are in compliance with the
University's relevant policies and procedures, by-laws, statutory requirements
and International Accounting Standards
- Facilitate communication between the Finance Department and other departments, to ensure that any
correlated and linked job tasks are completed smoothly and in a timely fashion
- Arrange the financial audits of the University's accounts and supports
the process by providing any required information to ensure the completion of
the audit process on time and on budget

Required Skills
|
-
Excellent oral and written communication skills
and the ability to prepare professional documents, in both Arabic and English.

Excellent knowledge of financial analysis and
forecasting.

Proficient in the use of MS Office and accounting/financial
management software (e.g. SAP).

Ability to handle confidential information with
discretion.

In-depth knowledge of corporate finance and
accounting principles, laws and best practices.

Desirable Requirements
|
- Minimum of bachelor’s degree in Fainace, Business
Administration, MIS or a relevant discipline.
- Qualified member of an accountancy body or holder of equivalent accreditation (e.g. CIMA, ACCA, ICAS, etc.).
- A master's degree in a relevant discipline is a plus.
- More than 15 Years of UAE experience in
leadership position preferably in higher education institutions.
- Priority to UAE Nationals.
