Job Purpose
|
lead the development and execution of the University of Sharjah's employee engagement strategy, fostering a culture of high performance and excellence. The Head of Section is responsible for building a motivated, high-performing team and implementing strategic initiatives that enhance employee satisfaction, retention, and overall organizational effectiveness.

Main accountabilities & expectations
|
Strategic Leadership and Planning:
- Develop, lead, and execute the University of Sharjah's employee engagement strategy and long-term initiatives to foster a culture of excellence.
- Establish and manage the section’s operational plans, processes, and procedures, ensuring alignment with best practices, UOS requirements, and the Human Resources Department's strategic objectives.
- Develop a strategic roadmap focused on promoting and achieving a culture of high engagement and excellence.
- Keep abreast of relevant developments in employee engagement and conduct periodic benchmark studies to ensure UOS practices are aligned with industry standards and peer organizations.
- Participate in the preparation of the department’s annual budget, and manage and track the section's expenditures to ensure they are within budget limits.
Employee Engagement and Communication:
- Oversee the design and implementation of university-wide employee engagement initiatives and programs.
- Develop and implement effective mechanisms to communicate all employee engagement policies, procedures, and updates to stakeholders.
- Create and manage a proactive system for receiving stakeholder queries and providing professional support on employment matters.
- Develop and execute employee recognition strategies, including reviewing, evaluating, and making recommendations for effective departmental programs.
- Develop employee engagement materials and manuals, and manage awareness sessions for new employees.
- Deploy effective engagement surveys in collaboration with key stakeholders across UOS to improve the employee experience.
Analytics and Improvement:
- Review and analyze employee engagement data to identify trends, such as communication and retention issues, and recommend strategies to improve UOS employee satisfaction and retention.
- Identify opportunities for the continuous improvement of systems, processes, and practices, taking into account international best practices.
Team Management and Development
- Implement and ensure adherence to the HR quality assurance management process which entails that each team member is responsible for conducting a thorough review of other team members’ deliverables before submission to the concerned Head for review. Conduct an additional diligent review of the submitted deliverables before submission to the HR Director.

Required Skills
|
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to prepare professional documents, in both Arabic and English.
- Excellent working knowledge of personal computer applications with an emphasis on MS Office applications such as Excel, Word, and Teams.
- In-depth knowledge of employee engagement principles, best practices, and trends, particularly within the higher education sector.
- The ability to analyze data from surveys, feedback, and other sources to identify trends, draw conclusions, and present actionable insights to senior leadership.
- strong understanding of human resources policies, procedures, and best practices related to employee relations, benefits, and recognition.
- The skill to develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies to ensure all stakeholders are informed and engaged.
- Knowledge of ERP Systems related to HR operations would be an advantage.

Desirable Requirements
|
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a relevant discipline.
- professional Human Resources certification (such as CIPD, SHRM, etc.) or a Master’s Degree in a related Human Resources field is a must.
- 12-14 years of UAE experience in a similar role, preferably in higher education institutions.
- Priority to UAE Nationals.
