Job Purpose
|
As a Risk Management Office Manager, you are expected to lead the development, execution, and monitoring of the University of Sharjah’s risk management framework in accordance with the associated policies and procedures, to ensure that risk information is collected and shared in a relevant and timely manner, and to enhance the process of proactive decision-making across UoS entities.

Main accountabilities & expectations
|
Develop a Risk Management Framework in line with best practices and standards such as Integrated Management Systems (IMS/PAS 99), Institute of Risk Management (IRM), and other regulatory bodies.
Oversee the University’s comprehensive insurance and risk management program, assessing and identifying risks that could affect reputation, safety, security, or financial success.
Establish Risk Management policies and procedures to identify risks across University services, including developing a risk appetite statement and a mechanism for monitoring and reporting risks.
Develop a risk profile for the University through annual risk assessments and communicate findings to stakeholders to ensure awareness and commitment toward continuous improvement.
Recommend and implement risk management solutions such as insurance, safety and security policies, business continuity plans, or recovery measures.
Establish a risk incidents database, including root cause analysis, related reports, employee reactions, and line managers’ decisions to inform future risk mitigation strategies.
Coordinate with the Compliance and Internal Audit Office to maintain university stability, compliance, and risk protection.
Provide expert advice to senior leadership on all risk management-related issues.
Provide various reports, strategic plans, analyses, and statistics related to risk management when requested by top management.

Required Skills
|
Strong oral and written communication in Arabic and English, including preparing professional documents.
Proficient in Microsoft applications, including MS Project and PowerPoint.
Solid understanding of risk management policies and best practices.
Strategic thinking and ability to align with organizational goals.
Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Leadership and supervisory abilities.
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately.

Desirable Requirements
|
An education degree in Business Administration, Management, Risk Management, Internal Control or a relevant discipline.
More than 15 years of UAE experience in leadership positions, preferably in higher education institutions.
Professional Risk Manager (PRM) certification is required.
A Master’s degree in Business Administration, Strategy, or Leadership is a plus.
Priority given to UAE Nationals.
