Job Purpose
|
The Research Institute of Sciences and Engineering (RISE) is seeking to hire A fixed-term contract Postdoctoral Researcher. The Postdoc position focused primarily on research activities in the areas of electric power grids and electric drive systems. The Postdoc researcher will work within the smart grid research group. The successful candidate will conduct advanced research related to smart, modern, and future energy systems, with emphasis on the following topics:
· Smart and intelligent electric power grids · Power system modeling, analysis, and control · Integration of electric drive systems and power electronics · Grid-connected converters, renewable energy sources, and energy storage · Stability, protection, efficiency, energy management, and reliability of electric grid and drive systems The postdoctoral researcher is expected to contribute to high-quality scientific publications, conduct collaborative research projects, and develop innovative solutions for next-generation energy systems.

Main accountabilities & expectations
|
- Perform and write independent and collaborative research in smart grids and electric drive systems.
- Report and publish research results in high-impact journals and conferences
- Manage and develop the Smart Grid laboratory and Equipment.
- Set up and run the experiments related to smart grid projects.
- Perform modeling and simulation of electric power systems.
- Help in the ongoing projects/research work, laboratory work, and activities of the Smart Grid Group.
- Write project proposals and technical reports.

Required Skills
|
- Laboratory development and management.
- Power systems, grid-connected renewable energy, and electric machine control.
- Experimental hands-on experience.
- Modeling and simulation of power systems.
- Knowledge/ability to work on real-time simulator including Hardware-In-Loop (HIL) and Rapid-Control-Prototyping (RCP), (using dSPACE and/or OPAL-RT).
- Knowledge/ability to model/simulate power electronics/machine drive systems, (inverter circuits), and their integration with power systems and machine drive.
- Laboratory management and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in conducting experimental work.
- Ability to model and simulate systems using MATLAB/Simulink (Power System Toolbox) or equivalent software.
