Job Purpose
|
The Research Institute of Sciences and Engineering (RISE) has an opening
for a full-time Post-Doctoral Fellow position in Artificial Intelligence and
Data analytics and their engineering applications in assessing, predicting the
conditions, and managing engineering assets such as structures, infrastructures,
and manufacturing and service systems.

Main accountabilities & expectations
|
- Conduct independent and collaborative research in a maximum number of the following areas:
- Structural/infrastructural health monitoring.
- Prediction algorithms for damage prediction of engineering structures.
- AI and Machine Learning algorithms for the development of Intelligent machines their applications.
- AI and Machine Learning for GIS and remote sensing.
- Use of AI and data to develop novel techniques for prediction and classification in manufacturing and service applications.
- AI and Machine Learning for human factors, ergonomics, and biomechanics
- AI and Machine learning applications in building energy efficiency.
- Write and debug high-quality research codes and research papers.
- Document research by publishing papers in peer-reviewed journals and presenting papers in conference proceedings.
- Design and implement experiments to test research ideas on a variety of problems.
- Supervise junior researchers.
- Collaborate with your supervisor and other researchers to discuss, develop and implement research agenda.
- Help in administrative tasks related to the operations of the research group such as the annual report preparation, budget follow up, projects administrative aspects, RA hiring, RA follow up…

Required Skills
|
- Strong research background in Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Computer Vision, AI applications in engineering, or similar field.
Experience in applying AI and Machine Learning algorithms for prediction or classification in relevant application areas.
Ability to solve complex problems by evaluating alternative solutions, trade-offs, and diverse perspectives.
Research and engineering experience, demonstrated through grants, fellowships, patents, internships, work experience, or coding competitions.
Strong expertise in data analytics.
Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
Proven record of publications in top-tier peer-reviewed journals.

Desirable Requirements
|
- PhD in engineering or in computer-related field.
- It is necessary to have strong knowledge of contemporary programming languages, including C, C++, Linux, MATLAB, Python, and deep learning software … etc., as well as solid proficiency with the typical implementation tools used in embedded engineering systems.
- Strong knowledge in artificial intelligence tools and applications.
- Previous research in the application of AI and machine learning tools in engineering areas.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct high quality research and to develop implementations to evaluate the results.
- Evidence of strong oral and communication skills.
