Job Purpose

To maintain stewardship for financial assets including overall leadership of the cash management, and functions of the University of Sharjah and its affiliated entities. Ensure the maintenance of corporate liquidity and financial stability, as well as develop and manage strategies, operations and policies, related to financial activities such as treasury operations, capital structure, working capital, foreign exchange difference rate, borrowing, investing, etc​

Main accountabilities & expectations

1. Monitor day-to-day Treasury activities, and ensure that business processes and workflows are executed correctly and efficiently. As well as ensure that job tasks are distributed between team members fairly and professionally. 

2. Lead the development and execution of the Treasury section’s processes and procedures, and ensure that they are in alignment with best practices and UOS’s requirements. 

3. Prioritize, review and reconcile treasury accounts to minimize risks, costs and errors. As well as manage UoS funds to monitor any anomalies and correct them. 

4. Support treasury and cash management operations and help develop strategies to maximize efficiencies, safeguard assets and minimize costs. As well as identify cost-saving and profit maximizing opportunities related to treasury. 

5. Reconcile and confirm all financial transactions between the Sharjah Finance Department and the UoS, as well as ensure compliance with all internal controls, policies and procedures in day-to-day conduct and supervision of cash management activities, and report any matters of concern to the line manager for immediate action. 

6. Oversee cash functions, including cash positioning, cash reporting and forecasting, short-term investing and borrowing, wire payments, fraud prevention, bank account setup and maintenance, and bank relationship management. 

7. Monitor and manage the University’s daily cash position, including forecasting the daily cash requirements. 

8. Support the Compliance and Internal Audit team in the completing any internal or external audits, financial statements and board presentation. 

9. Provide leadership to the section’s team in order to build and develop their organizational capabilities, provide them with development opportunities, as well as report on their performance. 

10. Participate in the hiring process for the section including identifying job requirements, sorting and reviewing candidate resumes, and contributing to the selection and interview process in order to ensure the best and most suitable candidates are selected for the available vacancies. 

11. Support the director in the development of the Finance department’s KPIs by providing professional input and advice on developing and achieving the relevant KPIs. As well as report on the section’s progress, and prepare the necessary action plans to the director. In addition to ensuring that each team member has a good understanding of the section’s KPIs and how their roles impact their achievement. 

12. Assist the director in the Finance department’s projects that help support and improve the department and the university in general, and supervise the project team when needed to ensure each member completes their work tasks accurately and on time. 

13. Participate in the preparation of the department’s annual budget, in collaboration with the director and other heads, and track the section’s expenditures and ensuring they are within the limits of the budget.

Desirable Requirements

▪ Minimum of bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a relevant discipline. 

▪ A professional qualification as a chartered accountant or qualified member of an accountancy body (e.g. CIMA, ACCA, ICAS, etc.) 

▪ 12-14 years of UAE experience in similar role preferably in higher education institutions. 

▪ Priority to UAE Nationals.
