Job Purpose

The Department of Public Relations, College of Communication at the University of Sharjah invites applications from highly qualified candidates at the rank of Associate Professor with specialization in "Media Entrepreneurship and Digital Innovation" master program to commence appointment in the Fall semester of the Academic Year 2026/2027.​

Main accountabilities & expectations

The role of the faculty member encompasses a diverse range of responsibilities aimed at educating students, conducting research, and contributing to the university and community services, while also engaging in continuous professional development with a deep commitment to academic excellence and student success in the "Media Entrepreneurship and Digital Innovation" master program. Primary duties include:

  1. Delivering graduate courses in areas such as media management, media economics, digital media innovation, marketing communication, media technologies, campaign planning, and research methods.
  2. Supervising master thesis, designing course materials, supervising and assessing academic performance through exams, papers, and projects, and maintaining office hours for academic advising.
  3. Conducting scholarly research, publishing in peer-reviewed journals, and participating in academic conferences.
  4. Contributing to departmental meetings and committees, curriculum development, community engagement, public service activities, and collaboration with industry partners to enhance students' practical and professional skills.
  5. Teaching in undergraduate programs and the new master program in "strategic communication for tourism".

Required Skills

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. A Ph.D. in Strategic Communication, Advertising, or a closely related field.
  2. Demonstrated record as an active researcher with high‑quality publications in Scopus‑indexed journals, particularly in the areas of strategic communication, media management, and advertising.
  3. Ability to teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses effectively.
  4. Commitment to employing innovative, project‑based, and research‑informed teaching methodologies that integrate technical skills with critical and theoretical perspectives.
  5. Familiarity with AI‑driven creative tools for media content development and data analysis.
  6. Dedication to advancing the department's goals in diversity, equity, and inclusion through teaching, research, and service.
  7. Capacity to manage academic advising responsibilities efficiently.
  8. Proficiency in teaching in English.
  9. Experience in advising and mentoring students on academic and career pathways, including research initiatives and internship opportunities.
  10. Evidence of effective teaching, student advising, and service contributions.
  11. Proven record of professional integrity, collegiality, and commitment to inclusive excellence.
  12. Excellent interpersonal skills, with a strong commitment to collaborative engagement within the department and university, and the ability to build relationships with national and international professionals, industry partners, and alumni.​
