Job Purpose
|
The Department of Public Relations, College of Communication at the University of Sharjah invites applications from qualified candidates for the position of Assistant Professor in Strategic Communication and Advertising program to commence appointment in the Fall semester of the Academic Year 2026/2027.
The role of the faculty member encompasses a diverse range of responsibilities aimed at educating students, conducting research, and contributing to the university and community services while also engaging in continuous professional development with a deep commitment to academic excellence and student success in the "Strategic Communication and Advertising" program.

Main accountabilities & expectations
|
- Deliver undergraduate and graduate courses in areas such as introduction to strategic communication, advertising strategies, digital technologies, social media advertising, storytelling, branding, corporate reputation, marketing communication and digital media writing.
- Supervise master thesis, design course materials, supervise student capstone projects, assess academic performance through exams, papers, and projects, and maintain office hours for academic advising.
- Conduct scholarly research, publish in peer-reviewed journals, and participate in academic conferences.
- Contribute to departmental meetings and committees, curriculum development, community engagement, public service activities, and collaborate with industry partners to enhance students' practical and professional skills.
- Contribute to the department's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through teaching, research, and service.
- Employ innovative, project-based, and research-informed pedagogies that balance technical proficiency with critical and theoretical grounding.
- Advise and mentor students in academic and career development, including research projects and internships.
- Maintain an active research profile with a consistent track record of high-quality publications in Scopus-indexed journals, specifically within strategic communication, media management, and advertising.

Required Skills
|
- Ph.D. in Strategic Communication or Advertising.
- At least two years of teaching experience.
- Familiarity with AI-driven creative tools in media writing, media production, advertising design, and data analysis.
- Proficiency in teaching in the English language.
- Evidence of successful teaching, advising, and service effectiveness.
- A record of professional integrity, collegiality, and a commitment to diversity.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to collaborative engagement within the department and university, as well as building connections with national/international professionals, businesses, and alumni.
