Job Purpose
|
The College of Engineering at the University of Sharjah invites applicants for a faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in the field of Mechatronics and Robotic Engineering Program to commence appointment in the Fall Semester of the academic year 2026/2027.
The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to:
- High-quality undergraduate and graduate teaching
- Curriculum development in modern mechatronics and robotics topics
- Establishing an active, externally funded research program
- Student advising, supervision, and service to the university and community
We are particularly seeking candidates with demonstrated teaching and research expertise in several of the following areas:- Mechatronics System Design and Integration
- Robotics and Automation
- Reverse Engineering
- Autotronics and Intelligent Vehicle Systems
- Micro/Nano electromechanical systems (MEMS/NEMS)
- Smart Systems
- Embedded Systems
The successful candidate must hold a Ph.D. in Mechatronics Engineering, Robotics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline, with a strong specialization in Mechatronics and Robotics.
Applicants with a BS and an MSc in Mechatronics or Robotics Engineering, and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering, are especially encouraged to apply.
Preference will be given to candidates with proven teaching excellence and relevant professional/industrial experience in robotics, automation, and mechatronic system design. Main accountabilities & expectations
|
- Teach a range of core and elective courses, including Engineering Analysis, Robotics, Automation, Reverse Engineering, MEMS and NEMS, Mechatronics systems Design, and smart systems at any level, as well as supervise senior design projects in mechatronics or robotic engineering.
- Advise students as an academic advisor.
- Develop curricula and laboratories and plan to establish externally funded research programs and publish peer-reviewed papers.
- Serve on committees at the program and university level.

Required Skills
|
- PhD in Mechatronics Engineering or Robotic Engineering or PhD in Mechanical Engineering focusing/specializing on Robotics and/or Mechatronics applications.
- Minimum three years' experience in university teaching or industry.
- Candidates should have a strong record of accomplishment in research, publications in top journals in Mechatronics, Automation, Controls, Sensors and measurements, Estimation, Artificial Intelligence, Embedded Systems, and MEMS/NEMS, and demonstrated ability to secure competitive funding.
- Ability to work as a team member exhibiting superior interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
- Organize and prioritize work with a high degree of initiative and independence.
- Ability to effectively manage time and projects.
- Ability to integrate and analyze information and develop reports.
- Excellent oral and written communication and ability to compose effective and professional communication for internal, external, and virtual communities.
- Adhere to strict confidentiality and other ethical standards.
- Ability to manage stress well and adapt to a changing and fast-paced environment.

Desirable Requirements
|
Industrial and applied research experience is highly desirable, especially in automation, robotics, smart manufacturing, automotive systems, or advanced mechatronic product development.
