Job Purpose
|
As an Application Analyst, the role is to provide high quality technical support services and expertise to stakeholders in various administrative departments at the University of Sharjah, in order to meet their system/application needs and requirements. |
|
Main accountabilities & expectations
|
- Assist the line manager in creating, developing and implementing the section’s procedures by monitoring the
process and ensuring its compliance with the Information Technology Center and UOS goals and strategic
objectives.
- Consult with users (stores, procurement, accounting, budget, etc.) regarding applications programming requests,
applications training, user support and troubleshooting.
- Analyze user applications programming requests related to overall program goals and system functionality and
recommends solutions.
- Support users by identifying, evaluating, selecting supporting and maintaining systems solutions to ensure the
availability and usability of the software solutions. As well as provide training to the users to maintain business
continuity.
- Prepare project status reports, in order to keep both the line manager and client updated about related projects
and other issues.
- Train, coach and provide technical/practical expertise to new employees in job related process to ensure they
acknowledge and understand their responsibilities and tasks.
- Participate in related projects that help support and improve the department and the University in general, and be
an active member of the project team ensuring that all assigned tasks are completed accurately and on time.
- Keep-up-to-date with new developments and advancements in the market in order to suggest suitable solutions
and advancements at the university and serve users better.

Required Skills
|
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to prepare professional documents, in both
Arabic and English.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Demonstrate a good understanding of operating the required software/hardware
- Able to understand the meaning of common error messages and explain them to users in simple language.
Ability to organise and prioritise multiple tasks and produce reports under strict guidelines.
- Problem solving skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Excellent listening and questioning skills, combined with the ability to interact confidently with clients to
establish what the problem is and explain the solution.
- Use technical knowledge to help and assist users overcome any difficulties.
- Works as a competent member of the team, willingly providing backup support for co-workers when
appropriate and actively supporting group goals.

Desirable Requirements
|
- Minimum of bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or any related discipline.
- 6-8 years of UAE experience in similar role preferably in higher education institutions.
- Priority is to UAE Nationals.
