Job Purpose

The Research Institute of Sciences and Engineering (RISE) is seeking to hire a full-time Water Process Engineer responsible for the design, fabrication, commissioning, and operation of advanced water and wastewater treatment systems, with a focus on desalination technologies. The role involves developing efficient and cost-effective treatment solutions for seawater, brackish water, and industrial wastewater applications.

The engineer will manage the full process lifecycle, including system design, process simulation, equipment sizing, and system integration. Responsibilities include designing treatment systems such as Reverse Osmosis (RO), Ultrafiltration (UF), Nanofiltration (NF), thermal treatment systems, hybrid systems, and Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) systems. The role also includes preparing process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and conducting mass and energy balance calculations.

In addition, the engineer will oversee fabrication activities, including system assembly, material selection, skid design, and quality control to ensure compliance with industry standards.​

Main accountabilities & expectations

  • Generate, analyze, and interpret research data.
  • Conduct laboratory and field studies.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations and technical reports.
  • Coordinate with vendors and support procurement activities.
  • Supervise installation and system setup activities.
  • Perform system commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
  • Monitor plant performance and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce operational costs.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, health and safety standards, and sustainability requirements.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and support pilot studies and research activities.
  • Contribute to the development of advanced desalination and water treatment technologies.
  • Apply expertise in process modeling, membrane technologies, scaling and fouling control, and energy optimization.
  • Support the integration of renewable energy solutions with desalination systems when applicable.​
Required Skills
