1. Create library workflows and procedures in alignment with the university’s policies and regulations, and the requirements of the UAE Ministry of Higher Education in order to achieve UoS’s vision and mission.
2. Maintain library facilities and equipment by preparing and executing plans for equipment and facilities maintenance and development to maintain good performance.
3. Select and procure library capital equipment, including software and hardware in collaboration with the Information Technology department, to enhance services and library operations.
4. Manage the hiring process for the library department including preparing initial job descriptions, requests to recruit, selection and interview process in order to ensure the best and most suitable candidates are selected for the available vacancies.
5. Ensure Library collections are organized in a logical, accessible and appropriate manner for ease of access by students and other library visitors.
6. Ensure Library science is updated by staying current with developments in library science, information literacy, and best practices to best serve the patrons.
7. Lead the development of the Library’s KPIs and be the point of contact between the department and the Office of Strategic Planning in order to report on the department’s progress and prepare the necessary action plans. As well as ensure that each team member has a good understanding of the department’s KPIs and how their roles can impact their achievement.
8. Continually evaluate the effectiveness of library services by studying the changing needs of the community and develop plans to meet those needs.
9. Manage the department’s budget, track expenditures, ensure that adequate provision is made for all activities, and are within the limits of the budget.
10. Provide various reports, strategic plans, analyses and statistics related to the Library when requested by top management.
