Job Purpose
|
As the Internship Officer and a member of the Career Advancement and Student Training Office team, you are expected to be responsible for strategically developing, coordinating, and managing all facets of the University of Sharjah's student internship program. This role serves as the central liaison between the Career Advancement and Student Training Office, various Colleges and their faculty supervisors, and external host organizations. The primary purpose is to maximize student experiential learning opportunities by cultivating robust industry partnerships, ensuring seamless logistical coordination, providing comprehensive student preparation and support, and monitoring placement progress to achieve high student placement rates and professional readiness.

Main accountabilities & expectations
|
1. Research, identify, and cultivate strong partnerships with external organizations, government entities, and industry leaders to secure a diverse range of high-quality internship placements relevant to the specializations of all Colleges. 2. Consult with employers and organizational partners to develop optimal strategies for promoting UOS student talent, connecting them with internships, and maximizing student placement opportunities. 3. Coordinate and actively participate in university and industry career fairs and events to network with employers and secure future internship positions for UOS students. 4. Conduct regular individual and group awareness sessions for students regarding the official UOS internship policies, procedures, eligibility requirements, and application process. 5. Provide students with essential guidance and information on career research, decision-making, goal setting, and job searching skills relevant to securing and succeeding in a professional placement. 6. Organize and assist with mandatory briefing meetings for students and their assigned Faculty Supervisors/Mentors to ensure full understanding of the internship process, expectations, and the available support structure. 7. Coordinate all logistical aspects of the student internship and job placement process, including gathering and screening student applications, processing official transportation requests (where necessary), and facilitating communications between Colleges/Faculty Supervisors and external host organizations. 8. Develop and maintain a comprehensive, up-to-date database of all relevant employers, commercial/industrial links, and official student documentation and correspondence. 9. Prepare and manage accurate student internship files, ensuring they contain all required official forms, documents, contact information, and necessary correspondence. 10. Serve as the primary point of contact for students, keeping them promptly informed and up-to-date regarding all matters, deadlines, and requirements related to their internship program. 11. Organize and attend structured internship site visits to monitor the student's progress, adherence to learning objectives, and deal effectively with any immediate issues, concerns, or conflicts that may arise during the placement. 12. Contribute to the annual review of the UOS internship program by gathering, analyzing, and presenting data on placements, student satisfaction, and employer feedback. 13. Submit regular, consolidated reports to the respective Faculty Supervisors and College representatives regarding student attendance, performance evaluations, and host organization feedback to facilitate academic assessment. 14. Complete any other job-related tasks as assigned by the line manager in the concerned college/department within the expected time limit.

Required Skills
|
▪ Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to prepare professional documents, in both Arabic and English. ▪ Excellent working knowledge of personal computer applications with an emphasis on MS Office applications such as Excel, Word, and Teams. ▪ The ability to build and maintain professional networks with HR managers, CEOs, and industry leaders across various sectors (Government, Private, and Semi-government). ▪ Good ability to "sell" the value of UOS interns to organizations and negotiate favourable placement terms for students. ▪ Confidence in delivering high-impact awareness sessions and briefings to both large student groups and small faculty committees. ▪ The ability to manage multiple internship cycles simultaneously across different academic semesters and colleges. ▪ Proficiency in maintaining complex databases and ensuring that student files are 100% compliant with university audit standards. ▪ High attention to detail in coordinating the "moving parts" of the program, such as application deadlines, transportation, and site visit schedules. ▪ A good understanding of general academic processes and procedures. ▪ An understanding of the UAE job market, emerging industries, and the specific skill sets required by employers in Sharjah and the wider region.

Desirable Requirements
|
▪ Minimum of a bachelor's in Business Administration, Management, or a relevant discipline. ▪ 2-4 years of UAE experience in a similar role, preferably in higher education institutions.
▪ Priority is to UAE Nationals.
