Job Purpose
|
The Sports Coach — Swimming Coach — is responsible for planning, developing, and delivering a wide range of sports and fitness programs aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle for students, faculty members, and staff. The role includes training university teams for competitions, organizing sports events, ensuring a safe environment within the sports complex and university swimming pools, providing health and technical guidance, and collaborating with other departments to support the overall well-being of the university community.

Main accountabilities & expectations
|
1. Sports and Aquatic Training
:
- Design and lead sports training sessions for students, including swimming training.
- Assess students' skill levels and provide technical guidance on swimming styles (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly).
- Develop specialized training programs in fitness and aquatic skills.
- Monitor students' progress and provide appropriate feedback.
2. Public Safety and Lifesaving:
- Maintain vigilant supervision of the swimming pool during classes or training sessions.
- Ensure the availability and functionality of rescue and safety equipment.
- Perform immediate rescue interventions when necessary and provide first aid and CPR.
- Adhere to safety procedures within the sports complex and university swimming pools.
3. Educational Support:
- Contribute to delivering practical training sessions related to safety and lifesaving within the pool and sports complex, in coordination with relevant academic and administrative units.
- Provide health and wellness guidance to students on fitness, proper nutrition, and injury prevention.
4. Events and Competitions Management:
- Organize and supervise sports events and competitions on and off campus.
- Assist in organizing swimming championships and aquatic events.
- Train and prepare the university team for participation in sports competitions.
5. Institutional Collaboration and Reporting:
- Coordinate with internal departments and external entities to organize sports activities.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and statistics related to sports programs.
- Perform any other job-related duties within the expected timeframe.

Required Skills
|
- Proficiency in Arabic and English (written and spoken).
- Computer skills (MS Office).
- Excellent physical fitness.
- Strong understanding of swimming rules, techniques, and various sports.
- Ability to handle stress and build student confidence.
- Knowledge of sports science, nutrition, and injury prevention.
- Ability to act quickly and calmly in emergencies.
- Professional and firm approach with individuals violating safety rules.

Desirable Requirements
|
- Bachelor's degree in Sport Sciences or Physical Education (minimum requirement), with preference for candidates who have competed as local or international swimmers.
- Certified swimming coaching licenses are issued by recognized local and international sports authorities.
- Professional certifications in lifeguarding, first aid, and CPR, issued by accredited bodies.
- A minimum of four years of swimming coaching experience within the United Arab Emirates, preferably in higher education institutions.
- Demonstrated athletic and leadership achievements in swimming and related specializations.
- Successful completion of approved practical assessments and a positive evaluation of the coach's technical and professional readiness.
- Priority in hiring is given to UAE nationals.
