Job Purpose
|
The Research Institute of Sciences and Engineering (RISE) is seeking to hire a full-time Post-Doctoral Fellow position in Modeling and Optimization of Sustainable Operations and Supply Chains.
|
|
Main accountabilities & expectations
|
- Conduct independent and collaborative research in a maximum number of the following areas:
- Energy and Carbon efficiency in Supply Chains and Operations: Inventory, Transportations, Distribution, Manufacturing, Healthcare,
- Sustainable development goals: solutions and initiatives in the design and management of supply chains to achieve SDGs,
- knowledge in waste management, sustainable transportation, renewable energy management, digitization in manufacturing
- Developing models and algorithms for decision making: Integer Linear programming, Metaheuristics, Multi-objective optimization, Multicriteria decision making, Flow simulation
- Use of Artificial Intelligence, System Dynamics, Structural Equation Modeling, and Simulation to evaluate alternatives in supply chains and operations
- Scientific computer-assisted review methodology: bibliometric analysis
- Write and debug high-quality research codes and research papers.
- Document research by publishing papers in peer-reviewed journals and presenting papers in conference proceedings.
- Design and implement experiments to test research ideas on a variety of problems.
- Co-supervise junior researchers.
- Collaborate with your supervisor and other researchers to discuss, develop, and implement the research agenda.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Follow all University policies and regulations for safe working procedures

Required Skills
|
- Demonstrated ability to conduct high-quality research in optimization and engineering, including the design, implementation, and evaluation of computational models and algorithms.

Proficiency in programming, software development, and the implementation of optimization algorithms using C, C++, MATLAB, and Python.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate complex problems, assess alternative solutions, and make evidence-based decisions.

Proficiency in data analytics and bibliometric analysis to support research and decision-making.

Proven ability to prepare high-quality scientific publications and publish research in leading peer-reviewed journals.

Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively present technical and research findings.

Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary research environments.

Desirable Requirements
|
- Educational background in Engineering or a closely related Computer Science or Computer Engineering discipline.

Comprehensive knowledge of optimization methodologies, including mathematical programming, heuristics, metaheuristics, Integer Linear Programming (ILP), hybrid algorithms, and decision-support techniques.

Strong knowledge of programming languages and computational tools, including C, C++, MATLAB, and Python.

Sound knowledge of the application of optimization techniques to engineering problems and systems.

Strong understanding of sustainability concepts, including waste management, renewable energy, and the circular economy.

Knowledge of data analytics, bibliometric analysis, and quantitative research methods.
