Job Purpose

The Research Institute for Medical and Health Sciences (RIMHS) is currently recruiting a post-doctoral researcher to join the 'Improving Healthcare and Medicine Use' Research Group and contribute to its research activities in health services research and practice-based research. We are looking to appoint a suitable candidate with training, experience and achievements in public health and health services research.
The successful candidate will work in a multidisciplinary research environment consisting of health services, public health, and pharmacy practice researchers.

The successful candidate will help plan, support, coordinate, and contribute to health services and practice-based research projects.​


Main accountabilities & expectations

The responsibilities of the post-doctoral researcher will include and will not be limited to:

  • Assist in project elaboration and management.
  • Collaborate and work effectively with faculty, staff and project coordinators to ensure the timely delivery of key project milestones and high-quality outputs.
  • Prepare research ethical approvals.
  • Prepare research plans for grant applications.
  • Prepare drafts of research reports for publication.
  • Contribute to field surveys and interview guides and administration of surveys and qualitative data collection (i.e., interviews, focus groups).
  • Develop, modify and update data collection tools and software for different projects.
  • Lead on the data management and cleaning of datasets, and data analysis.
  • Analyze cross-sectional data under faculty supervision.
  • Produce statistical outputs, tables and visualizations of findings.
  • Develop and deliver both written and visual outputs that are appropriate for different stakeholders.
  • Write and draft scientific reports.

Assist in the writing of academic manuscripts.​

Required Skills

Essential:

  • Hold a PhD degree either in public health, epidemiology, pharmacy practice, or a health-related field
  • Expertise in statistical data analysis and data management.
  • Knowledgeable with qualitative methods, data collection and analysis.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and preferably Arabic.
  • Excellent organizational, teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work pro-actively and independently.

Preferred:

  • Knowledgeable in using qualitative software such as NVivo or MAXQDA

Proficient with statistical software such as SPSS/SAS/ others ​

Desirable Requirements

The ideal candidate should have a PhD degree in public health, epidemiology, pharmacy practice, or a health-related field​
